How To Find Every Bell Bearing in Elden Ring Smithing Stones

Elden Ring is a difficult game. That won’t surprise anyone who’s played a demonstration from FromSoftware, but it won’t prepare you for the slew of “You Died” title screens you’ll encounter. You’ll need powerful weaponry if you’re going to make it through this trip. You’ll also need Smithing Stones to make formidable weapons. There are a lot of them.

You utilize smithing stones to level up your weapons, whether they’re blades, staffs, shields, or spears. You offer these stones (and with some runes) to Master Blacksmith Hewg at Roundtable Hold to improve your weapons. Smithing Stones can be found throughout the environment and are occasionally dropped by opponents. It’s much easier to just buy them to speed up the leveling process. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I didn’t realize I could accomplish this until approximately 50 hours into the game. Learn from my mistakes.

You’ll need Bell Bearings to get the easiest access to Smithing Stones. There are nine such Bearings throughout the game, and this guide will show you where they are all located.

First, let’s go through the fundamentals. Smithing stones can be purchased from Smithing Master Iji (shown above), a giant in northwest Liurnia of the Lakes, and the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold. Let’s start with Iji because he’s the easiest.

After defeating Godrick the Grafted (best of luck! ), you’ll enter Liurnia of the Lakes, the second major section of the Land Between. To find Iji, you must travel all the way to the lake’s northwest corner. The Kingsgrave Ruins can be found when you get close to the shore. You’ll have to take out a slew of skeletal magicians (or run past). There is a magical wall on the northern side of the ruins that will vanish if you strike it. If you do so, you’ll see a Site of Grace on your right. Smithing Master Iji will be on your left.

Iji provides an infinite amount of Somber Smithing Stone [1] and [2], as well as a limited number of Somber Smithing Stone [3] and [4].

Iji will get you started and be a great help, but you’ll need to contact the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold if you’re serious about upgrading your weaponry. It will take some effort to persuade them to sell you Smithing Stones.

You’ll need Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearings to get the Twin Maiden Husks to sell you stones. Four Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearings and five Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearings are included in the set. The Twin Maiden Husks will sell you all the Smithing Stones you need to upgrade any weapon to level nine if you acquire all nine of them. To begin, we’ll look at the standard Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearings.

Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing locations

Begin by visiting the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel. It’s also near Liurnia of the Lakes, but on the other side of the lake. You’ll notice a little crawlspace on the shore, where my character is stationed in the screenshot below, that leads to the Crystal Tunnel. It’s a dungeon you’ll have to navigate, and there are plenty of Smithing Stones to be found there. Crystalian, the boss, is at the finish. You’ll get the Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [1] if you defeat her.

Take that to the Twin Maiden Husks, and you’ll be able to buy an endless number of Smithing Stones [1] and [2] from their shop.

The Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [2], which you can get as soon as you locate Leyndell, the Royal Capital, is the next one you’ll come across. The bearing is in a small dungeon southwest of the Capital, not in the Capital itself. The Sealed Tunnel, as shown on the map below, is a dungeon accessible by journeying through the blue marsh area on the Capital’s outskirts.

You won’t have to go all the way into the dungeon to find your loot, thankfully. A Site of Grace can be found inside the Sealed Tunnel. Although there is no evident way through, there is a hidden path that can be accessed by striking the west wall of the room. After that, you’ll be transported to a big region teeming with adversaries. You’ll find a treasure chest with the Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [2] within if you clear them all out.

If you give the Twin Maiden Husks this bearing, they’ll sell you a limitless number of Smithing Stones [3] and [4].

The Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [3] is immediately on the beaten path, whereas the Sealed Tunnel is a little off the normal path. The only problem is that it will take several hours to get on that path.

To find the bearing, you must first reach the Giant Mountaintops. To get there, you’ll have to go through several story sequences that I won’t tell you about. However, as you arrive, you’ll shortly come across the Zamor Ruins.

The Zamor Ruins, like all of the Ruins in Elden Ring, include a staircase that leads to a subterranean region. Down the steps, enter the door, and you’ll discover Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [3] in a chest. This bearing will allow you to purchase the Twin Maiden Husks’ Smithing Stones [5] and [6].

Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [4], which allows you to purchase Smithing Stone [7] and [8] from the Twin Maiden Husks, is the same tale. This Bell Bearing is unavoidable, as it is claimed after defeating the Godskin Duo, a tandem boss fight that is part of the main story. Crumbling Farum Azula, the place accessible after Mountaintops of the Giants, is where you’ll face them.

Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearings

Many of the weapons you obtain will require a special form of Smithing Stone, the elusive Somber Smithing Stone, to improve. These, like the regular type, can be found in the wild, but Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearings let you purchase them from the Twin Maiden Husks.

You’ll have to dungeon crawl to find the Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [1]. It may be found in Caelid’s Sellia Crystal Tunnel, as shown in the screenshot above. You’ll face the Fallingstar Beast at the conclusion of the dungeon. If you defeat it, you’ll receive the Bell Bearing, which will allow you to purchase the Somber Smithing Stone [1] and [2].

Unfortunately, you’re not finished with dungeons yet, since the next Bell Bearing needs you to descend underground once more. At the end of the Atlus Tunnel, you’ll find the Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [2]. The Atlus Tunnel is a little difficult to discover; the best way to get there is to travel south from the Minor Erdtee near the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge Site of Grace.

It’s a short dungeon that takes less than 10 minutes to complete, though the tandem boss battle at the conclusion can be challenging if you’re not leveled up sufficiently. You’ll acquire the Bell Bearing if you defeat the two Crystalian beasts. The Twin Maiden Husks will sell you Somber Smithing Stone [3] and [4] if you give it to them.

You must give Twin Maiden Husk Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [3] to obtain access to Somber Smithing Stone [5] and [6]. To discover it, go to the western part of the Mountaintops of the Giants and look for the First Church of Marika. You’ll come across a large frozen lake with a large freezing dragon as you travel through the Mountaintops, which is an indication that you’re getting close. The First Church of Marika can be found on the frozen lake’s southernmost point. A corpse can be looted outside for the Smithing Miner’s Bell Bearing [3].

To obtain Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [4], travel to the Crumbling Farum Azula location, which, as previously stated, follows the Mountaintops of the Giants. The Tempest-Facing Balcony Site of Grace can be found as you advance through this section. You’ll see a slumped-over corpse holding an item if you walk forward from this Site of Grace. Pick it up to receive the Bell Bearing, which grants access to the Somber Smithing Stone [7] and [8].

Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5] is the final boss of bell bearings, and it allows you to purchase Somber Smithing Stone [9] from the Twin Maiden Husks. This one may also be found in Crumbling Farum Azula, and it’s almost tough to overlook.

The Dragon Temple Rooftop Site of Grace can be found as you advance through Crumbling Farum Azula. It’s a tense situation here: you’ll be attacked by those pesky birds with swords for feet, while a dragon off in the distance rains crimson lightning down on the path. Run along the trail and turn right when you come face to face with the dragon. This will lead you to an area populated by wolf-like creatures wielding large axes. You’ll come to a fallen temple that serves as a bridge between two cliffs if you kill them or run by. As you cross the temple bridge, kill the archer who tries to kill you.

As you can see in the screenshot above, there’s a small chapel here with a view of one of the wolf creatures standing at the end of a hallway. Of course, this is an ambush, since you’ll have to cut your way past enemies on all sides. When you’re finished, you’ll see a corpse beside the coffin, which you can loot for the Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [5].
